Lords, Ladies, Armigers, Good Gentles All – It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you. And now we invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair as HL Kendryth filia Gerald and the Barony of Three Mountains proudly presents: Yule!

Bid welcome to the Sparkling Season in true Three Mountains fashion at St. Bart’s Episcopal Church on December 10th. Our event staff has been working hard to bring you an event that you are going to be talking about for time to come. Take a moment to peruse the menu of activities we have dreamed up for your entertainment:

Youth Championship – The Youth Championship Tournament will be held at Three Mountains Yule of Baron Michael and Baroness Eden, Lord and Lady Three Mountains in December.

Local youth wishing to become a champion of Three Mountains are encouraged to think about participating as soon as possible. A minimum of two participants between the ages of 9 and 17 years of age are needed for the competition to be held.

Our outgoing Champion, Gilbert of Dumfries, has helped to set the following format.

This year we are simplifying things. Our theme is Fantastical Beasts! We want our youth to bring forward a beast of their own creation, in any medium, based on the idea of a medieval beastiary. Have fun! Some ideas might be research on beastiaries, making a food item in the shape of a fantastical beast, creating an item with the beast on it or telling a story you created about some fantastical beast that might have been around during the Middle Ages. Be creative and be prepared to share your creation with Their Excellencies and others talking about your creation and your inspiration!

Those who wish to enter must reach out to Beak Bell of Dumfries at beakbellofdumfries@gmail.com by no later than November 1st to provide their intent to compete. It is also required that parents be present to support their youth.

The Great 3M Baking Competition – This is a 3-phase competition based on the hit show, “Great British Baking Show.” Compete individually or a team, and bake in the comfort of your own home! Bring your completed dishes to Yule where they can be displayed and judged by our esteemed panel of experts. Winner will get a fabulous prize!

First phase of the competition is the Signature Bake: competitors will be asked to make 18 Cornish Pasties. For those unfamiliar with this item, they are hand pies that are “full meals.” The front half of the pasty has a savory filling; the back half has a sweet filling – meal and dessert in one! Make your crust however you like, make your fillings whatever you like, just be sure they are split in half, savory and sweet, and bring your best 18 to be judged!

Second phase of the competition is the Technical Challenge: competitors will need to make one baker’s dozen decorated sugar cookies, precisely 6” round, and decorated with the 3M Baronial device in Royal Icing. One small heraldic change – you must have three snowflakes in the blue field of 3M’s device. Bake and decorate your cookies at home, then bring your best 13 to Yule!

Final phase of the competition is the Showstopper Challenge, and wow is it going to live up to its name! For this challenge, we are asking competitors to make a fully decorated Bouche Noel! The cake and filling can be anything you like, but it must be fully decorated. Sugarwork? Meringue mushrooms? Tempered chocolate branches? You are limited only by what your imagination and skills can deliver, but remember, for this challenge, More is definitely More!!

If you are interested in taking part in this competition, please email our coordination, L Livvy Astrajord, at livi.astrajord@gmail.com with your Team Name, and get to planning your exciting baked offerings!

Please remember – as this involves edible offerings, you will need to include a full and complete list of your ingredients.
