Letter from the Coronet – November 2017

Greetings to officers and populace of the Barony of Three Mountains,

The holiday season is upon us and feast season in full swing. With only Tri-Baronial Yule left in our progress this year, we come to you with news, and hope for the coming year.

First, we attended Festa Onora – The Honor Feast for Talia Soranzo da Chioggia. The feast was a multitude of sights and sounds from dancing to games and even a mystery hunt. Talia was well deserving of this festival and everyone appeared to enjoy themselves. During this event, we also held our championship tournament for Arts & Sciences.

Three people rose to the challenge of producing a presentation of a subject that they were not initially familiar with. These subjects included wool combs, oriental lacquer, and papyrus and reed pens. The competition was fierce but in the end her Excellency Jill Blackhorse won the day. We congratulate her on her efforts, and welcome her to our Court.

At the end of the day, we announced next year’s honoree for the feast Muireann inghean ui Mhuirneachain. This feast will need an autocrat immediately as we know that by February, most available venues will already be booked through October of next year. We encourage those who have the experience and ability to submit a proposal do so as soon as possible.

Tri-Baronial Yule is scheduled for December 16th, and many things are happening. We need donations for the children’s presents being given by Father Yule. We are responsible for 20 presents or bags of items for the children 13 and under. Please get in touch if you are able to donate. We are holding our Youth Champion tournament at Yule. Arturus has already stepped down since he has a family engagement he must attend, but he has chosen a format that We agree will make an excellent tournament. The primary facets of the tournament are cooking a soup to be brought to Yule (please bring a card with the ingredients and any period information that may apply), games, a marshal aspect (whether that be Youth Armored Combat, or Thrown Weapons) as well as service throughout the day. Children wishing to vie to be the Youth Champion of Three Mountains must come attended by a parent to morning court and present themselves and any letter of intent they wish to provide.

NewCon PDX is welcoming us again and we need as many hands to help demonstrate what we do. Please contact Matthias von Schwarzenberg (Bud Clark) as soon as possible to help in any way you can.

And finally, We are on the cusp of beginning our third year as your Baron and Baroness. It is our intention to step down at Twelfth Night 2019 hosted in our Barony. To this end, we would like the word to go out now that in approximately nine months, we will begin to vet candidates who may take our place at the pleasure of the Crown. We wish to give anyone who might have a thread of interest any help or advice they need to see if they are fit for such a venture. It is not a choice made lightly and we know this will take time, which is why we bring it up now. Please contact us if you have any questions about this process.

Our current progress:

· Tri-Baronial Yule, December 16, 2017

· An Tir Twelfth Night, January 12th, 2018

· Ursulmas (His Excellency) January 26th, 2018

There being nothing else we remain,

Yours In Service To The Dream

Sebastiaen & Erika

Baron & Baroness of Three Mountains
